Hotshot · One load · Open 24/7

A hotshot is one urgent load, on its own ute.

Something has stopped and it stays stopped until a part arrives. A hotshot is a vehicle sent for that one item and nothing else. It does not stop at a depot, carry anyone else's freight or wait for a run to fill. We are on the road within 30 minutes of your call, from Mackay or Rockhampton.

What makes it a hotshot

A hotshot run is urgent, dedicated and direct.

Urgent. You are not booking freight for Thursday. The job is stopped now and the freight is what restarts it.

Dedicated. One ute goes out for your load. Nothing else is on the tray and nothing else is on the way. That is why we can commit to a time instead of quoting a window.

Direct. The same ute takes it from pickup to delivery, with no depot stop and no transfer between vehicles. The item you handed over is the item that turns up, and it never leaves our hands on the way.

Downtime costs more than the freight. A crew standing around costs more per hour than the run does, so how fast it gets there matters more than the price.

Why the alternatives fall short

A network courier

Consolidates your item with everyone else and moves it when the run is full.

Pickup windows measured in hours, delivery next day or later.

Sending your own person

Works, and you keep hold of the item the whole way.

A full day of a tradesperson, and a vehicle off site while they do it.

A freight forwarder

Built for volume, pallets and scheduled lanes.

Not set up for one urgent item that needed to leave twenty minutes ago.

Australia Post

Fine for a small parcel that can wait.

Not viable for the size, the weight or the timeframe.

None of these is a bad service. They are built for freight that can wait, and most of what a workshop sends every week can. A hotshot is for the load that cannot.

When to ring us

  1. A machine is down and the part is sitting on a supplier counter in town.
  2. A crew is waiting on site and cannot start until something arrives.
  3. A workshop needs a transfer between Mackay and Rockhampton today, not tomorrow.
  4. Something is too big to post and too small to be worth a truck.

Give us the weight and rough dimensions when you ring and you will get a straight answer on the spot, including a no if it will not fit. Telling you no in thirty seconds is more use than turning up with the wrong vehicle.

We run to the Bowen Basin coalfields, out west to Rolleston and the Carmichael mine, north to the Ravenswood gold mine near Townsville, and interstate on request. There is more on that on the long distance page, and the full list of what we do on the services page.

Working out of Mackay or Rockhampton? Those pages cover the local runs and the pickup areas from each base.

Stopped, and waiting on a part?

Ring it through and a ute is moving within 30 minutes.
