On the road in 30 minutes

Your hotshot specialist in Mackay and Rockhampton.

What fits on the ute

Pretty much anything, within reason. The flat deck measures 2,400 × 1,800 mm strapped down, and each ute carries up to 1,000 kg. If your load is bigger than that, ring and ask anyway — you will get a straight answer rather than a maybe, and nothing is quoted until we know it can be carried properly and secured for the road.

  • Machinery parts

    Pumps, hoses, hydraulics, bearings.

  • Palletised freight

Up to one tonne, strapped down.

  • Steel and timber

Up to 2.4 m along the deck.

  • Tools and plant

    Compressors, generators, welders.

  • Bikes and mowers

    Motorbikes, quads, ride-ons.

  • General goods

    Furniture, whitegoods, cartons.

Where we run

Mainly west. Out of Mackay and Rockhampton to the mine sites and the towns along the way — as far out as Rolleston and the Carmichael mine, and north to the Ravenswood gold mine near Townsville. Brisbane and interstate runs happen less often, but they happen — if that is where it is going, ring and ask.

Morris Couriers service area, Central QueenslandA map of the Central Queensland coast and inland Bowen Basin. Two bases are marked, Mackay in the north and Rockhampton in the south, joined by the Bruce Highway corridor through Sarina and Marlborough and continuing south to Gladstone. Routes run inland from Mackay to Nebo, Moranbah, Dysart and Middlemount, west from Rockhampton to Blackwater and Emerald, north from Mackay to Proserpine, Airlie Beach and Bowen, and east to Yeppoon. Three reach further out: north-west from Bowen to Ravenswood, west from Moranbah through Clermont to the Carmichael mine on the Galilee Basin, and south from Emerald to Rolleston. Routes are drawn as a heat map: the brighter and wider a line, the more often it is run. The two western hauls to the coalfields are the brightest, followed by the Bruce Highway between the two bases.RavenswoodBowenAirlie BeachProserpineCollinsvilleGlendenSarinaNeboMoranbahCarmichaelDysartMiddlemountClermontMarlboroughTieriCapellaYeppoonEmeraldBlackwaterMount MorganGladstoneBiloelaRollestonMackayRockhampton

Regular runs reach Cairns in the north and Brisbane in the south. Interstate when the job calls for it.

  • Mackay

Bowen Basin mine sites, Paget workshops and the yards in between.

  • Rockhampton

Engineering and beef, plus the run west to Blackwater, Emerald and Rolleston.

  • Australia-wide

Brisbane, Townsville and interstate when a job calls for it.

A family business, and it shows

Morris Couriers is Robert and Brittany Morris. Between us we take the calls, plan the runs and organise one of our utes to get there and get the job done — on time, and safely. There are eight of them, four in Mackay and four in Rockhampton, which is how a ute can be moving within 30 minutes instead of when one happens to come free.

It also means the job is personal. A load that goes astray is not a case number here; it is our name on it, in a region where word travels quickly and most of our work arrives by recommendation.

Registered business, ABN 69 460 134 167. Public liability to $20 million and goods in transit to $500,000 per load. The phone is answered at any hour, genuinely — no call centre, no ticket number, and nobody handing you on to somebody else.
